The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur through its continuing commitment to agricultural development and farmer support, conducted the distribution of various farm inputs to registered rice farmers within the municipality.
A total of 2,000 registered rice farmers benefited from the activity, receiving essential agricultural inputs aimed at improving farm productivity and reducing production costs. The distributed assistance included Hybrid Rice Seeds, 46-0-0 Fertilizers, 16-20-0 Organic Fertilizers, Foliar Fertilizers, and Herbicides.
The distribution activity was led by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, together with Vice Mayor Riolita R. Balbalan, SBM Ben Marius Gabriel F. Escobar, Committee Chair on Agiculture with the rest of the Sangguniang Bayan Members and personnel from the Municipal Agriculture Office, LGU-Burgos, Ilocos Sur. In her message, Mayor Escobar emphasized the importance of supporting the agricultural sector, recognizing farmers as the backbone of the local economy and food security.
Aside from the farm input distribution, Mayor Escobar also announced several upcoming agricultural assistance programs that will further benefit the farming community of Burgos.
Among these is the distribution of a total of 676 water pumps intended for registered tobacco farmers. According to the Mayor, the water pumps will be distributed immediately after the completion of the necessary inspections to ensure that all units are in good working condition and ready for use.
Mayor Escobar likewise announced the implementation of the second tranche of the fuel subsidy program. Unlike the previous distribution, the upcoming subsidy will cover all registered farmers in the Municipality of Burgos, providing additional support to help alleviate rising production and transportation costs.
Furthermore, she revealed plans for a third tranche of agricultural assistance through the distribution of a tractor equipped with a dozer attachment to one barangay. The initiative aims to enhance land preparation, improve farm accessibility, and strengthen agricultural operations within the beneficiary community.
