The Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office conducted a Basic Training on Radio Operations for the recipients of the newly distributed Push-to-Talk over Cellular (POC) Radios. The training aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively utilize the communication equipment in the performance of their duties, particularly during emergencies, disaster response operations, and peace and order activities.

Among the participants were Mayor Annabelle F. Escobar, personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the Municipal Health Office (MHO), the Burgos Municipal Police Station, the Burgos Fire Station, and the 26 Punong Barangays of the municipality together with their respective Committee on Peace and Order members and Barangay Police Chiefs.

The POC radios were previously distributed by the LGU through the MDRRMO as part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to strengthen communication and coordination among local government offices, emergency responders, and barangay officials.

During the training, Mr. Jayke Aurelio Santiago provided a comprehensive orientation on the basic functions and proper operation of the radios. Participants were guided on essential radio communication protocols, including powering the device on and off, channel selection, proper transmission procedures, and the observance of radio etiquette to ensure clear and efficient communication.
