The Local Governent Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur conducted its traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony on the first Monday of June, bringing together local officials, employees, partner agencies, barangay leaders, and senior citizens in a display of unity and public service.


Present during the ceremony were Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar, municipal officials and employees, MLGOO Engr. Isidora E. Vendiola, personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Health (DOH), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the 26 Punong Barangays, and members of the Barangay Senior Citizens Association (BSCA).
Adding color and cultural pride to the gathering, municipal employees once again showcased their own interpretations of ASEAN-inspired attire, highlighting the rich and diverse heritage shared among Southeast Asian nations.

Following the ceremony, representative from the 4Ps Office introduced the Bayanihan SIM Project, an initiative that aims to provide free mobile internet access to qualified 4Ps beneficiaries, helping improve digital connectivity and access to essential online services.

Meanwhile, Liga ng mga Barangay President PB Lourdes Escobar delivered a brief report on their participation in the recent Liga ng mga Barangay National Congress. She also highlighted the recognition given to barangay officials who received the Meritorious Service Award for successfully serving three consecutive terms in office, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to public service.

In another significant announcement, BSCA member Mrs. Teresita Tilan formally shared the news that Amb. Catalino R. Dilem Jr. has been reelected as the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) Regional President for Region I, a testament to his continued leadership and service to the senior citizens sector.
