As part of the meaningful celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day, the Local Government Unit of Burgos, Ilocos Sur headed by Mayor Annabelle Filart Escobar conducted a Clean-Up Drive Activity aimed at promoting environmental responsibility, cleanliness, and community cooperation.

Following the conduct of the flag raising ceremony and wreath laying activity in honor of Father Jose Burgos, the participants were organized into two groups to carry out the clean-up activity in different areas of the Municipality.

One group was assigned to clean the vicinity of the Municipal Building, ensuring that the area remained orderly, clean, and welcoming for residents and visitors. The other group proceeded to the Ayos Burgos View Deck, where participants worked together in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the area, one of the Municipality’s scenic destinations.

The core objectives of the said activity are environmental preservation, public health and safety, community engagement and education and awareness and was participated in by the attendees of the Independence Day celebration, including municipal officials, employees, uniformed personnel, barangay officials, and others who shared the same commitment to community service and environmental preservation.

The Clean-Up Drive served as a reminder that celebrating independence goes beyond remembering history, it also means taking active responsibility in building a cleaner, safer, and more progressive community. Through collective action and volunteerism, the people of Burgos showed that patriotism is also expressed through caring for the environment and contributing to the betterment of the Municipality.
