As parts of the Town Fiesta, the Municipality Conducted an Inter-Barangay Open Age Tournament that was participated by all twenty-six (26) Barangays which started on January 16, 2024 and ended on February 11, 2024 in a match between Barangay Ambugat vs Barangay Taliao whereas Barangay Ambugat bagged their Back-to-back championship title.
On February 10, with the efforts of our Municipal Mayor Nathaniel D. Escobar, Burgos was honored with the presence of one of the PBA’s basketball team, NLEX Road Warriors featuring Asi Taulava as they gave us an amazing show between in an exhibition match against the Burgos All Stars.
On February 14, Gov. Jeremias C. Singson graced us by sponsoring the One Ilocos Sur Health Caravan which was conducted at the Municipal Covered Court together with the Municipal Health Office led by the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Edgardo C. Rante and staff which covered “free consultations, free Dental services and free minor surgeries along with free medicines” for all that took their time to attend the said caravan. Meanwhile, at the Municipal Civic Center, Our Municipal Mayor together with his Loving Wife Mrs. Annabelle F. Escobar and Family, gifted a total of 21 couples for Valentine’s Day by sponsoring a Civil Mass Wedding which covered up all expenses such as Marriage Application, Wedding Rings, Catering Services, Wedding Cake, Red Packets and many more.
Day 1 of the Dap-Ayan Festival 2024, at the Dawn of February 15, our very own Mayor Boy Escobar personally led the Walk for a cause which routed from the Municipal Building at Pob. Norte to Luna and Back together with the Municipal Officials and Employees, the Personnel of Burgos MPS led by OIC-COP PCPT Melvin G Trinidad, personnel of BFP-Burgos led by MFM SFO4 Antonio T Rigunay, Punong Barangays and Barangay Officials, CSOs and Day Care Workers which was immediately followed by a Community Zumba held in front of the Municipal Building. The said event was to raise funds in which all proceeds will be used to provide financial assistance to the mentally challenged individuals of the Municipality.
At the same day, the Local Government Unit of Burgos celebrated the 2nd Farmers’ Day of Burgos at the “Sapaw-ni-Ragsak” led by Mr. Jojo A. Ayson, Municipal Agriculturist and staff. The LGU Launched the said event with a Tractor Float Parade in which the 26 Barangays teamed up into 13 groups of 2 to showcase their products in their respective barangays as well as their creativity and love for their work into their respective floats. Right after the parade, as part of the celebration, a raffle draw was conducted which was filled with joy, laughter and excitement as every farmer patiently waited and witnessed each and every draw from the Raffle Draw Container, the prizes consisted of (hoses, Manual and Battery-Operated Knapsack Sprayers, Grass Cutters, Electric Water Pump and grand prizes of livestock such as Goat, Carabao and Cow). In the same time, each and every registered farmer of Burgos was distributed with PPES (Sweatshirt and boots). While farm inputs and equipment were also distributed to each and every tobacco farmer and vegetable seeds to each and every vegetable grower of the Municipality.
Day 2 of the Dap-Ayan Festival 2024, The LGU in partnership with all the elementary and secondary school celebrated the Dep Ed Day 2024 highlighting the creativity, skills and talents of the students of every school within the Municipality via Marching Band Exhibition, Dance Sports and Zumba Showdown.
On the same day, the LGU conducted an “Ulidan” Award 2024 in recognition for all the hard work and sacrifices of both the parents and the student who excelled in their academics and examinees who passed their licensure examination and the examinees who passed the 2023 Civil Service Examination. This event hopes to promote and further motivate and encourage the future students and examinees to always give their best.
The Dep Ed Celebration then continued right after with their main event between 3 contestants each coming from Burgos National High School and Holy Name High School vying for the title “Miss Education 2024”. At the end of the exciting night, Miss Mariah Nicolle Segui Tobia of Burgos National High School was crowned Miss Education 2024.
Day 3 of the Dap-Ayan Festival 2024, The LGU celebrates its most awaited Burgos Day and the last day for the celebration of the 105th Founding Anniversary, the LGU started off with a Creative Dance Competition which was participated by all the 26 barangays in the Municipalities all showcasing their Talents, Skills, Artistry and Unity in their performances. Each and every barangay executed a spectacular and colorful performances in which they all have proven to have given it a lot of time and effort for this specific day. As the competition came to a close, and the judges have given their scores, remarks and careful thoughts Barangay Luna was then declared as the Champion of the 2024 Creative Dance Competition giving them their back-to-back championship title for the said competition followed by Barangay Manaboc as the 2nd Placer and Barangay Cadacad securing the 3rd place.
Later that night, the LGU carried on with their celebration with their main event as the LGU conducted the search for the Miss Burgos 2024 participated by every barangay that was paired into groups of 2. During the main event, Singer-Songwriter Bern Marzan graced the Audience with their melodious voices together with Jerry Angga and John Len. And with the efforts of the different CSOs of Burgos, Ilocos Sur led by Mrs Annabelle F. Escobar, CSO Federated President, a Raffle Draw was brought about with a Grand Prize of a Brand New 4-wheeled Electric Bike. And as the Search for the Miss Burgos 2024 comes to an end, The CSO has drawn the Winner of the CSO Raffle Draw, Mr. Roger Antolin of Barangay Sabangan Pinggan. And as for the most awaited results, the Representative of Barangay Balugang and Lubing Cluster Claimed the Title and Crown for the Miss Burgos 2024, followed by the Representative of Barangay Dirdirig and Callitong as 1st Runner-up, Representative of Barangay Mambug and Cadacad as 2nd Runner-up, Representative of Barangay Manaboc and Bangbangar as 3rd Runner-up and lastly Representative of Barangay Luna and Dayanki as 4th Runner-up.
Municipal Mayor Nathaniel D. Escobar, wholeheartedly extends his sincerest gratitude to all the donors, guests, contributors, workers, participants, contestants and even the amazing audiences who took their time to witness every event since Day 1 or event parts of the celebration both physically and virtually which made this 105th Founding Anniversary a success.
