The LGU headed by Mayor Boy Escobar together with the Municipal Officials led by Vice Mayor Riolita R. Balbalan and Municipal Employees joined the Women’s Month Celebration to recognize and appreciate the incredible success and/or achievements women has made all across the globe and to further promote women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The said event was launched early morning with an Awareness and Advocacy Walk around the Municipal Grounds. After which the program for the celebration was formally opened by Hon. Ben Marius Gabriel F. Escobar, Committee Chairperson on Social Services & Women and Family as he emphasized the importance of such events in order to show support on how important the contributions of women are to the society.

Vice Mayor Balbalan welcomed the guests, speakers, and participants of the event, being a woman leader and a mother herself, she emphasized that if she can do it, other women can do it, and that we all may have a role in the society, women especially now can do more, be more, do better and be better.

Mayor Boy supported Vice Mayor’s message and added gentle reminder of the importance of women as women can be more than a figure of support and that women has the capability to be a leader, to be a champion as he highlighted to each and every woman “Babae Ka, Hindi Babae Lang!”.

Part of the celebration was a lecture on Mental Health Awareness which was presented by Ms. Honey Pearl R. Tabieros, RN from the Provincial Health Office, followed by the Salient feature of RA 9262 and RA 11313, presented by PMAJ Bleszie De La Rosa Aguinaldo, Legal Officer and a Demonstration of Basic Self Defense performed by the personnel of the ISPPO.

The event was participated by the National and Local Officials and Employees, Punong Barangays, members of the LGBT, BHW, RIC, Puso ti Kababaihan Association President, 4Ps Parent Leaders, Parents of Sexual Abuse Victims and VAW Desk Person of Burgos, Ilocos Sur and was facilitated by Mrs. Roselin A. Atendido and staff of the MSWDO.
